Lawsuit Against Murtha Will Likely Be Shelved
A lawsuit against outspoken Representative John Murtha (Democrat - Pennsylvania) will likely be DOA thanks to a 1946 law that protects government employees from liability claims concerning their actions within the scope of their official duties.
The lawsuit was filed by Marine Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich, who claims he was a victim of libel when Murtha called those involved in a possible massacre in Iraq "war criminals". 24 Iraqi civilians died in the attack, but the Marines and Fox News has contended that it followed an attack on the U.S. soldiers and that the men involved were stressed from the war. Of course, we all know there's no better stress reliever than taking women and children out back and "offing" them.
