Bush Poll Ratings Fall To Nixon Levels
President Bush was drinking too much alcohol and blowing too much coke to remember the Nixon administration. He's probably hearing a lot more about that president these days, as his approval numbers reach a level not seen since 1974, when Nixon faced possible criminal charges following the botched Watergate robbery.
The current president may not be a petty thug like Nixon. Nixon was sub-human, the Mike Tyson of presidents. President Bush is a much more dangerous beast. He's been able to whip Middle America into a religious frenzy, somehow connecting the bombing and shooting of dark-skinned people in the Middle East to doing the work of Jesus Christ.
That rabid Middle America is about all Bush has left these days. Conservatives are attacking the president for not being... well, conservative. Spending during the Bush administration has skyrocketed. Left between a choice of raising taxes (which voters would see impact them now) or increasing debt (which future generations will have to pay for, and can be much more destructive to the economy), Bush chose to increase debt. That's the government equivalent of just putting it on the Visa. Very intelligent.
Libertarians are hating Bush because he is slowly turning this country into George Orwell's 1984. He thinks the government can spy on everyone's actions without a warrant, because these are "special circumstances". Thomas Jefferson is both spinning and puking in his grave right now.
Liberals have always been against Bush, and he's made no effort to appease them in any way, because he never had to. Now he's lost power in Congress, making him a lame duck president that nobody wants to listen to anymore. All that we ask is that he not destroy the country in the next two years, after which time he will be replaced by someone who hopefully is capable enough to fix the mistakes of the past eight years.
