Another test

I'm really sorry about this, Blogger is really messing up big time for me. It's showing up alright most of the time in IE, but I get an old template file in Firefox. Uggghhhh. I know these people used to work for free, but this is part of Google now. They have billions of dollars, fix this!

This is a Test

I've encountered some serious problems with Blogger over the past few days. The really need to make a better tutorial. Their instructions appear to have been outsourced to India, because I can't figure out what the heck they are saying. Hopefully this post will work.

Stop Smiling Magazine

It's been a long time since I blogged about my affection for literary magazines, but I just have to tell everyone about Stop Smiling. They are a bi-monthly (6 issues per year) magazine, and each issue features at least 2 different covers. In the June issue you get either the H.W. Ross or the Hunter S. Thompson cover. Their focus tends to be on literary figures, but they have also ran pieces on actors and musicians. I've only read the most recent issue, but from what I've seen the magazine is just spectacular. The writing is some of the best published material I've read in years, and the pictures are better than most corporate magazines. The quality of this magazine is just incredible (even the paper feels a little thicker). If you have any problems with the magazine, such as delivery condition, you will find that Stop Smiling has the most caring and helpful customer service (via email) you have ever experienced from a magazine publisher. I swear to God, I have not been paid a dime to make this endorsement, it's just been a long time since I was so pleased with a product and the people who produce it.

The End of Innovation Futures

Innovation Futures is a predictive market created by MIT several years ago. People could purchase "contracts" on such things as the daily outcome of the NASDAQ along with more unique "props," such as the whether or not the price of a gallon of gas would average over $2.50 by the end of the year. Just today, Jonathan, who was put in charge of Innovation Futures, announced that the program will be discontinued. Apparently MIT is making some widespread changes, and predictive markets had no place in their future. As an avid player, I am deeply disappointed by this announcement. I encourage you to visit the Innovation Futures website and send an email to MIT personnel, telling them how important such a program can be, if they just utilize it better. They're smart people, they should have already known this.

Affiliate Marketing Guru Corey Rudl Dies in Crash

I realize most of my readers have no idea who Corey Rudl was, but he is someone many indepedent publishers looked up to as a God. He died in an auto accident at California Speedway on Thursday, June 2. He died in a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, an incredibly fast car that is unfortunately a sad side effect of being able to afford expensive things. Corey claimed to have made over $40 million over the past 10 years, and he did it with clever advertising techniques, as opposed to spam or parasites. He was one of the best advertising copy writers ever, and many, including myself, wish they could write copy like Corey did. Corey, you will be missed.

Deep Throat Revealed and Confirmed

It is now official. The legendary "Deep Throat," who leaked information about President Nixon's role in the Watergate burglary, is W. Mark Felt, former #2 guy at the FBI. Felt, 91, has come forward with the revelation, and Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, the reporters made famous for their use of the scoop and their coverage of the scandal, have confirmed he was the man in the shadows. Cheers to you, Mr. Felt, you did this nation a great service, and you went beyond the call of duty to protect the integrity of the White House. We could use a man like you today.

Get Rich... Slowly

I came upon this today and I thought it was an interesting read. With all the information and websites out there telling people how they can get rich quickly, this site was refreshingly original in its plan for the common man. Most people can't just strike it rich at any instant, that kind of thing takes a tremendous amount of risk and luck. Anyone can pay off their debts and save money gradually and intelligently like they describe here. And by the way, I'm hoping to change the whole damox site very soon to reflect a similar strategy for all entrepreneurs out there in cyberspace.
