2006 Koenigsegg CCX - Information, Pictures, and Specifications

Check out these pictures of the latest from the Koenigsegg CC series, the CCX. The design reminds me of a the McLaren F1 and the Saleen S7, except it has a snub-nose front end (see pictures of the side view). For some reason this front looks very strange to me, but I guess eliminating most of the cargo space allows them to move everything forward, which makes room for a more robust engine. The engine is a 4700cc supercharged V8 making 806 horsepower.

The 350 kmh 700 bhp Fulda Maybach Exelero

Let me start by saying that the Maybach Exelero is one beautiful car. Its streamlined body has touches of 1930's luxury car design mixed with the newest in automotive technology. The 700-hp V-12 biturbo engine will also get this baby rolling faster than you've ever been on 4 wheels. It is a custom design by Fulda, a company with a long history of making high performance concept cars.

Rolls-Royce unveils experimental four-seat coupe at Geneva show

Rolls-Royce has unveiled another concept car at the Geneva Auto Show that could indicate the direction of design at the company in the future. The body is streamlined but still has those elements of elegance that make a Rolls-Royce a Rolls-Royce. The concept car was hand crafted and features 21 inch forged aluminum wheels.

SAAB Unveils Aero-X Concept

Check out this amazing concept car introduced by Saab. It is called the Aero-X, and it has some very interesting design features, such as no windshield pillars. The performance figures are also impressive, including a 4.9 second 0-62 test (simulated on a computer, or some developer version of Gran Turismo 5 - I would assume). It's powered by a 400 bhp BioPower V6 engine, which I can only assume means it is powered by BioWillie fuel.

Loremo: The Ultra Efficient Car - 157MPG!

German Loremo AG will have something very special to show off at the Geneva Motor Show next week. They have built the Loremo LS, a 2 cylinder diesel engine car with an amazing fuel mileage rating of 157 MPG. It has a 20hp engine that can still reach a top speed of 99 mph. It holds up to 4 people. Best of all, the starting price is about 11,000 Euros, or around $13,000. Watch out Toyota Prius and other hybrid cars, this could be the future.

Car of the Day: Daewoo Nubira

Source: The Car Swap Meet
The whole point of having a car of the day is to introduce the reader to some cars that have been long forgotten, or perhaps some that you never knew. The Daewoo Nubira is likely one of those cars. Many of you are probably familiar with its sister, the Suzuki Forenza, which is now sold in the U.S. market (the Daewoo brand was disbanded a couple years ago). It's a small car that was sold on the cheap. My local dealership even had a going-out-of-business buy one get one free sale on Daewoo cars, so you get them new for an average of about $6,000 apiece. Not bad for a brand new car.

Honda to sell budget hybrid car in 2007

Honda has plans to start selling a budget priced hybrid car for 2007 or 2008. It will likely be the first hybrid car to be sold under $16,000, as it has a starting price point of $11,790. The fuel economby would be similar to the Honda Insight or Toyota Prius, both hybrid vehicles. This could be the car that brings the hybrid into the mainstream, making it a viable choice for entry level buyers, not just those "green" buyers.

Man Crashes Ford GT Bought 2 Days Earlier

I hate to keep on posting these stories about exotic car wrecks, but this week seems to be full of them. A man in Kansas City was on the waiting list 2 years before he could get his hands on a new Ford GT supercar. He owned that car just 2 days before he decided to put the pedal to the metal, at which point the rear wheels lost traction and he wrecked into a pole on a small bridge. The front of the car is completely wrecked, but the rear appears to be salvageable. I guess it just goes to show that you need to get used to a car before pushing it to its limits.

Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Pictures

Pictures of the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 have been released. This 631 horsepower monster will top out at 210 mph and sell for a paltry $322,972. Expect to see more pics following the Geneva Auto Show next week.

Car of the Day: Chrysler Newport

Source: The Car Swap Meet
The Chrysler Newport was the entry level Chrysler during the 1960's and 1970's. It was more luxurious than a Dodge, but not nearly as sporty, especially at the peak of the muscle car era.

More Pictures of that Wrecked Ferrari Enzo

Here are some better pictures of that Ferrari Enzo that wrecked on the Pacific Coast Highway earlier today. It seems that the passenger area was hardly damaged at all. The rear completely came apart, although the engine doesn't look too bad. I would guess some parts from it could be salvaged, if you've been looking to put something interesting into your Testarossa.

Driver Crashes Ferrari Enzo On PCH

A man who was fortunate enough to be able to purchase a Ferrari Enzo was unfortunate enough to crash it at nearly 200 mph on the Pacific Coast Highway. The rear of the supercar was seperated from the passenger area, but the driver suffered only minor injuries. I guess he got as much fun out of his investment as all the Enzo buyers who just keeping them locked up in a garage.

Car of the Day: Audi A6

Source: The Car Swap Meet
The Audi A6 is one of my favorite midsize luxury cars. It competes with the Volve S60 and S80 and the BMW 5-Series. The all-wheel drive Quattro is perhaps the finest drivetrain ever produced. A version of it is even used in modern Lamborghinis. Engines for the A6 have included some very powerful turbocharged V6's. These are very nice cars, especially if you can find one used for less than $12,000.

Car of the Day: Aston Martin Virage

Source: The Car Swap Meet
The Virage was the popular Aston Martin of the 1990's. It was introduced in 1989 and ended production in 2000. It had a V8 engine making 330 horsepower. It's design was really what made it popular, as there were more powerful Aston Martins with V12 engines, including the DB7.

Car of the Day: AMC AMX

Source: The Car Swap Meet
The AMC AMX is one of my favorite cars of the muscle car era. It was truly a sleeper car, packing a powerful engine into a small 2-door coupe. It was based on the Javelin, which was a fast car but was built for the general market. The AMX was built for people looking for speed. It was a limited production car, but there were also some special edition AMX's that were very limited production, such as the Hurst SS/AMX. That was a drag race version of which only 54 made it to the public. These cars are still undervalued by the collectors market, but I think people are going to start waking up to their speed and rarity very soon.

Car of the Day: Acura Integra

Source: The Car Swap Meet
The Acura Integra line of cars has been around almost as long as the Acura brand, which is Honda's luxury brand. They are a favorite of the tuner market, particularly the Type-R. It was renamed the RSX in 2002, although the car was not significantly redesigned (Acura just wanted to start naming its cars with letters instead of words).

The Special Edition Ford Mustangs

In honor of the newest Limited Edition Mustang GT, Espn and Autobytel take this look back on special Mustangs of the past, including the Shelby GT350 and the 1968 Ford Mustang 428 Cobra Jet (my personal favorite). Their details and specs are accurate buy sparse, and the pictures aren't wallpaper sized, but it's still a nice look back.

Spy Shots: Ferrari 599 GTB Commercial Shoot

Here are some great spy shots of a Ferrari 599 GTB at a photoshoot with a Ferrari F40. This car looks beautiful, but it also reminds me how great Ferrari styling was during the 1980's, as the F40 still looks like the supercar of the future. I'll take either one, though, I'm just waiting for one of my readers to pony up the dough. Hehe, that rhymes, give me money!

GTO El Camino 4X4 Monster Car on Ebay

I came across this odd vehicle on eBay today. It is originally a 1969 Chevy El Camino, but with a 1970 GTO engine and a 1966 GTO front end. Did I mention it's also lifted and has Chevy Rallys and Gumbo Monster Mudder tires? There's not much more I can say about this car, just check out the pictures.

Porsche 997 Turbo Debut at Geneva Motorshow

Here are some hot pics and specs for the new Porsche 997 Turbo. It has 60 more horsepower than the 996 Turbo and will be available at dealerships in Germany by late June of this year. 0-60 time is around 3.8 seconds. There's not much more to say, just click on the link and check out the pictures.

2006 Pagani Zonda C12 F Roadster

Check out these pictures and specs for the 2006 Pagani Zonda C12 F Roadster. This is one hot car. It almost looks like a mix of Italian exotic and F1 racecar. The Mercedes Benz V12 engine makes 650 horsepower, and the frame is light enough to help that engine take this car to speeds you can probably only afford to dream of.

Serbian Yugo Powered By Wood

Here's an amazing little piece about an alternative fuel being used in a Yugo in Serbia. The fuel just happens to be the same one used by early humans thousands of years ago: wood. But the wood in the Yugo is used in a slightly different way. Instead of using the heat from burning wood as an energy source, the maker of this system found a way to use the hydrogen and methane gases left over from burning wood and fed them into the standard Yugo combustion engine. How well does it work? Well, it's actually faster than the original. Of course, with a Yugo, that's not saying much.

World Debut of BMW M6

The BMW M6 made its debut today with the 6 Series Luxury Coupe. This may look similar to other Bimmer's you see on the road, but this car has a 507 horsepower 10 cylinder engine. Throw in BMW quality suspension designed for performance, and you've got a true monster. This beast will destroy just about anything else on the street, including Corvettes, many Vipers, and even some Ferraris.

Car of the Week - Aston Martin DB7

This week's car is the Aston Martin DB7, which was produced from 1994 until 2003. The Aston Martin name is recognized worldwide as the leader of British luxury supercars.

The base engine was only a V6, but you better believe it was finely tuned for performance. There were also V12 models (called the Vantage) and a V12 GT edition. It's styling is considered by many automotive experts to be the finest ever, blending smooth lines with distinct wheels and headlights that just scream "I have loads of money." For more information, just check out the link.

Car of the Week - Chevrolet Corvette

I've really fallen behind this whole Car of the Day thing, so I guess I'll just have to make it a Car of the Week thing, and see if I can sneak in more than once a week.

Anyway, this week's car is one I'm sure you are all familiar with: the Chevrolet Corvette. Introduced as a roadster in 1953, it has become the most heralded sports car in American automotive history. The generations have been called C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, and C6, in that order, but they also have many other names to collectors, such as Sting Ray, Split Window, Mako Shark, and others. Just check out the link for more information about this amazing car that has been a staple of American sports cars for 53 years.

Willie Nelson Introduces BioWillie Fuel in San Diego

Country folk singer Willie Nelson has come out with his own brand of biodiesel fuel today, named BioWillie. The first station to carry it is an alternative fuel station in San Diego, California. The singer has always been a champion of environmental protection and energy reduction, and he could be seen in an alternative fuel themed commercial during the Super Bowl. Looks like this man puts his money where his mouth is.

The Top Ten Hybrid Myths

Here is the truth about hybrid vehicles. This article debunks certain myths about these cars, such as the batteries needing replacement and the power being lower than average gasoline-powered cars. In fact, the battery in a Toyota Prius owned by a taxi driver has gone over 250,000 miles in the past 25 months and has not needed replacement, and the Honda Accord Hybrid is the fastest family sedan on the market.
