Car Video of the Day: Corvette C6

Check out this Top Gear review of the Corvette C6. Those Brits give the Vette a thorough bashing for its crude American traits, but in the end it posts a decent time around the track that has to slightly impress the European elitists. Sure, it's not as fast as a TVR or even a NSX, but it's also only about $40,000. The Z06 version, which was not tested, also offers huge improvements over the base model, with performance numbers right up there with the supercars.

Car Video of the Day: Porsche Carrera GT

Today's car video shows a Porsche Carrera GT driving up and down a twisty mountain road. This is like the ultimate drifting video, even though the Carrera GT is not a car made for drifting. It's a beast of a supercar with a huge engine adn more power than the average person should ever have in their possession, but it can traverse these narrow roads when a skilled driving is behind the wheel.

Car Video of the Day: 1968 Dodge Charger on Top Gear

I'm going to try to add a cool car video on here every day. Today's pick is this segment on Top Gear featuring the 1968 Dodge Charger 440. I've always felt this was the best Charger ever made, with the circular taillights and the powerful engine (0-60 in 6 seconds, first NASCAR vehicle to reach 200mph). There are many faults, such as poor aerodynamics and very poor brakes (several owners have swapped their brakes with more modern braking systems very successfully), but this was the epicenter of the muscle car movement. It was the bad boy, the Goliath to the Ford Mustang David. Just play the video, close your eyes, and listen to that engine roar.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 Commercial

I just can't stop myself with the car videos. Here's a very rare Shelby GT500 commercial. I had no idea that they even made commercials for such a limited edition car. The ad features Carrol Shelby himself, riding in a GT500 and explaining why he chose the Mustang as the platform for his new special edition project. I'm sure it was the range of features, not the enormous amounts of cash Ford paid him.

1969 Dodge Charger Doing Donuts Video

It's cool car video Thursday, and I've got another great short video clip for everyone. This is a 1969 Dodge Charger doing donuts and wasting away the tires in a parking lot. It's great to hear that Mopar muscle roaring again.

This is test #3 of the embedded video. Check out the hot Ferrari Enzo eat dust from an SLR-powered (heavily modified) Mercedes Benz!!!

I'm actually posting this as a test to see if I have the code right to insert videos into my blog. If you are having problems viewing the video, make sure you have the latest version of Shockwave (free). If it still won't work, drop me an email at damox02(at symbol)damox.com.

Anyway, the video is very cool. It's a Ferrari Enzo sucking exhaust gases as a SLR-powered SLK55 Mercedes speeds by it in a race. It's not every day you see a Ferrari Enzo, and I'm sure there are very few people who have ever seen one lose a race with another street car.

How To Draw Cartoon Cars Like Trosley's

Here's a great site that will show you how to draw a car the Trosley way. These cartoon cars are not supposed to be accurate depictions or even slightly distorted sketches like those done by Chip Foose. These are truly cartoon cars, with huge back wheels warping under the pressure of extreme torque and fire shooting out the side exhaust pipes. Real nice stuff.

Tax-Friendly Places to Buy a Car

How many people factor in the tax when deciding which car to buy? I'm guessing not many, but maybe they should. Car buyers in New Hampshire enjoy the lowest taxes on car purchases in the country, while Nevada has the highest. Of course, I guess that can be expected. Nevada gets a lot of big money winners who are looking to spend it on something flashy, and what's flashier than a new car?
