Ford Interceptor Concept Revealed

At the Detroit Auto Show next week Ford will introduce the Interceptor Concept. It's being described as a stretched version of the Mustang with great performance numbers from a 400 horsepower engine.

I don't know about you, but to me the name Interceptor brings up visions of a car sitting on the side of the highway with a radar gun, ready for the chase to begin. I believe AMC made a car with that name during the 1970's, and that was the purpose of the car. The early photos of this car make it look like a luxury sports sedan, but I guess I could see it in black and white paint.

Chevrolet Dealership Wrecks Customer's Corvette, Refuses To Replace It

A Chevrolet dealership in San Rafael received a customer's Corvette in their shop last week, and they were supposed to do some routine maintenance. Instead, a worker at the dealership took the car for a joy ride and crashed it, causing $15,000 in damages.

The story gets better from there, because the dealership offered to fix the Corvette, but would not replace it. They have the cheap parts and the mechanics who are familiar with the car, so I'm sure they could have made it look real nice, but it's still not the same as having a new car. Just because it was wrecked the car would lose $5,000-$10,000 of its value, even after repaired.

**UPDATE**
After causing a bit of a storm on the internet, the owner of the Corvette has now received an offer from the dealership to replace the car with a comparable model Corvette with the same color scheme and options. If they had done that in the first place they could have avoided all this egg on their face. Throughout the whole ordeal, the owner refused to sue the dealership, and even claimed that dealer did not legally have to replace his car. I think a lawyer would have told him differently.

2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 : The New Beast of American Sports Cars

The next Dodge Viper SRT-10 is a 600hp crossbreed of a Ram and a Snake, and it should dominate the American sports cars for the forseeable future. The sub-4 second 0-60 time is impressive, but probably not as impressive as the 12 second 0-100-0 time. No word on retail price, but if you have to ask...

George Lucas Takes Delivery of First Mosler MT900S

American Graffiti director George Lucas received his shipment containing the first street-legal production Mosler MT900S in the United States. I'm told Lucas also created some "Star Wars" film as well.

The black-on-black futuristic supercar had a final sales price of $203,000 - about 1/4th the budget for American Graffiti, a movie that featured some very cool cars from earlier generations.

Performance figures for this car are impressive, with a 0-60 time of 3.1 seconds and a total of 9 performance records for acceleration, braking, and handling.

HOT ROD's Top 10 Cars of 2006 and Hot Rod of the Year

Hot Rod Magazine has released their list of the top hot rods of the year, and there are some pretty sweet cars on the list. My favorites are the 1,160 horsepower 1972 Chevy Nova and a very simplistic 1925 Dodge Underslung. Both are cars for people who like building and driving more than shows and judging. Don't expect to see them on the back of a trailer.

Subaru Introduces More Subtle WRX STI With A-Line

Subaru has listened to (some) consumers' demands and made a version of the WRX STI for the driver who isn't trying to impress 17-year-old girls. The WRX STI A-Line is a more discreet version of Subaru's popular sports car, with no rear wing and more modest styling features.

Performance has not changed much. The steering was made smoother, the suspension is softer, and the interior in more comfortable. The brakes are also a little less "extreme." This car can still race with the best of 'em, but it feels more like a luxury car when cruising down the street - instead of a pint-sized muscle car.

Largest order ever of Rolls Royce Phantoms delivered

A hotel in Hong Kong has received the largest delivery of Rolls Royces ever recorded. Fourteen long-wheelbase Phantoms arrived today. They will be used to shuttle guests to and from the airport. I'm not sure how many guests make use of the 12" LCD scren or the advanced sound system, but I'm sure the drivers appreciate it during their downtime.

First Tesla To Get a Speeding Ticket

The electric supercar is now officially an American sports car. A cop pulled over a Tesla Roadster yesterday and gave the lucky driver a speeding ticket. I say the driver is lucky because he's driving a Tesla Roadster.

The car has no engine noise, so the cop was not tipped off by the usual signs of speeding. Therefore, it must have been a trap. Those crafty cops...

Carroll Shelby’s Personal Dual Supercharged 800 BHP Cobra For Sale

Legendary car tweaker Carroll Shelby is selling off one of the prized cars in his personal collection. His 1966 Competition Cobra is different than the 18 other ones his team made that year. His has dual superchargers making 800 horsepower. Considering that this is in a British car body smaller than my old Chevy Cavalier, you can only imagine how fast this car might be.

This car might be the only one in the world with a 3-speed automatic transmission and a dual supercharged 427 engine. Shelby claims it was the meanest car on the streets when he built it 40 years ago, and can still beat just about everything today.
