Jessica Simpson and the Divorce Court

Jessica Simpson filed for divorce from Nick Lachey on Friday, and now comes the entertaining part: divorce court. Simpson and Lachey never signed a pre-nup. Lachey was the breadwinner when they were married, with an overall wealth that far exceeded Jessica's. He took a big risk by not making her sign a pre-nup (he tried, she refused). Now Jessica's career has exploded (hopefully it will soon implode) and she is the wealthier spouse, and she'll probably end up owing her ex a lot of money. She has hired a lawyer and requested that a judge not grant Lachey spousal support. Considering the trouble Simpson went through to make sure Lachey would have to pay up if their marriage failed, it seems unlikely that divorce will be an inexpensive venture for her.

The Chappelle Theory

Here's an interesting website that is generating a lot of buzz today. The site claims Cheppelle's Show, hosted by Dave Chappelle, was ended by a cabal of the most powerful blacks in the country, including Jesse Jackson, Bill Cosby, and Oprah Winfrey. For some reason Whoopi Goldberg was included in their group. They were outraged by the stereotypes encouraged by the show, so they plotted to use "any means necessary" to stop a third season from airing. Chappelle felt threatened by this group, and he stopped production in order to protect himself and his family. This is just a theory, and the site does not include any evidence to back it up, other than saying it was pieced together by a man with many good contacts. Regardless, it's a very good read.

Hey Britney, Want a Divorce? Better Get a Lawyer

Britney Spears and husband Kevin Federline have been experiencing some trouble in their marriage, but it's nothing compared to what divorce could be like. Kevin wants $125 million if they split, most likely so he will never have to work again. Actually, he never worked in the first place, so I guess he just doesn't want to work, period. I question whether Kevin would be able to afford a divorce lawyer good enough to get him that kind of money, so he'll probably have to work his hamburger-flipping wrist very soon. Britney Spears pretty much owns all of his possessions, including his car. I doubt she'll be loaning him any money for a divorce lawyer.

Did Brokeback Mountain Turn Man Gay?

Here's a short message from a woman who claims her husband has been turned gay by Brokeback Mountain, a cowboy movie starring Jake Gyllenhall and Heath Ledger. Some have called it a gay love story, while the stars claim the homosexuality of the main characters is not the overriding theme of the film. I'm not sure if I believe this woman's story, as I question whether it is possible for someone to just "turn gay." I suspect the writer is a religious right nut who is trying to sabotage the image of a film that many believe will win an Oscar for best film. Perhaps some people will refrain from seeing it, afraid that they will be turned gay by the movie. It's a secret among many different religions that you can get more people with fear than with love.

She also appeared on several Waltons specials, including "A Walton Easter," which was her final appearance as Miss Emily Baldwin, in 1997. She also played one of the nuns in "Airport."
