Baritone singer Lou Rawls died of cancer Friday morning following a long battle with the disease. Rawls had several hits on the R&B charts in the 60's and 70's, and younger readers out there would probably recognize him from the life insurance commercials he did most recently. The body of Barry Cowsill, famed member of the 1960's band The Cowsills, was recovered in New Orleans several days ago. Cowsill had been missing since Hurricane Katrina flooded the city in early September. Family members had received a chilling phone call from the singer just before he disappeared. Cowsill did not live in New Orleans, but was visiting at the time the storm hit.

I reported earlier about Paris Hilton admitting to lying about being attacked by her ex-boyfriend's ex-girlfriend. I have now learned that Paris actually gave a civil deposition after the woman accused of attacking her filed a lawsuit for slander. Paris repeatedly said that she never planted those stories in the press. She accused her former publicist of doing all that on his own. The problem is, that former publicist, Rob Shuter, kept extensive records during this time, because he knew what Paris was doing was slanderous. His records, which include emails and other communications between himself and Paris, show that it was Paris who forced him to take these stories to the press. Now Paris has all but admitted that she faked the whole thing, perhaps not realizing that she could now face time in prison for perjury relating to the civil deposition she gave.

Paris Hilton has admitted that she was lying when she told the press that she had been attacked by her ex-boyfriend Paris Latsis' ex-girlfriend, Zeta Graff, in a London nightclub this past summer. Graff is suing Hilton for slander, and it appears likely that she will receive some money, possibly as much as $10 million. Believe it or not, Paris Hilton is only worth about $30 million, so this is a considerable chunk of her wealth at stake.

Eminem and his estranged ex-wife, Kimberly Scott Mathers, will remarry in 2006. The two seperated and divorced in 2001, and a custody battle for daughter Hailie ensued. Eminem has often used derisive rap lyrics to get back at his ex-wife, mocking her drug problems and even imagining what it would be like to take her life. I still think they make a better couple than Britney and K-Fed.
