Oprah Selected Frey's Book To Get Aniston On Show

Ok, this story is a little bizarre, so bare with me. Jennifer Aniston owns the movie rights to "A Million Little Pieces" by James Frey. Oprah selected that book for her book of the month in an effort to get Aniston to come on her show and talk about her breakup with Brad Pitt. Now we all know that "A Million Little Pieces," which is sold as a non-fiction memoir, is actually a million little lies, which most of the story being fabricated. I have never been a follower of Oprah's book club, although she was wise to select the works of William Faulkner last summer, but this certainly hurts what little integrity the club ever had.

CBS Cuts Out Download Middleman

CBS has decided there is no need to use Apple's iTunes service to sell its TV shows online. They will start selling episodes of this season's Survivor directly from their website for $1.99 per episode.

I think this is a smart move by CBS, as there really is no reason to pay Apple money just to act as a conduit to a simple video download. CBS will also be selling shows on the Google Video service, which has been open to the public for months but has only recently been offering videos that are not free. CBS will still make much more per sale using Google Video than working with Apple iTunes.

Pixar Scraps Toy Story 3

Pixar, which is now owned by Disney, has scrapped plans to make Toy Story 3. The original Toy Story movie was released in 1995, and it was the first time Pixar and Disney had joined forces to make a movie. It was a huge success, as was its sequel, Toy Story 2.

The third movie would have certainly made loads of money, but I guess the head of Pixar decided that their efforts could be better spent making something original.
