Bob Barker Retiring After 50 Years

Bob Barker is done fondling the help, and he's done hosting "The Price is Right". The 83-year-old walking corpse (ok, that was a little harsh, but look at the date) has announced he's hanging it up next June so he can enjoy retirement while he's still young.

The producers of the show have been looking for a host for several years, but have not yet found someone with balls that hang as low as Mr. Barker's. Perhaps Dick Clark would be a good choice, he's another 50 to 60 years left in him.

Reese Witherspoon & Ryan Phillippe Split

After 7 years of marriage and 2 kids, Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon have split up. It's no surprise that a marriage created by a cheesy movie like Cruel Intentions could end like this. Ryan Phillippe must have had a hard time dealing with Reese's success, especially when she could make more with one movie than he could make in 5 years.

SNL Caught Using Canned Applause

Is anything real about SNL anymore? This past week, on the show hosted by Hugh Laurie (who I don't care for), there was a subtle but very real mistake as the opening credits introduced the host. As the applause died down, there was a sudden "boost" in clapping that seemed to come out of nowhere and then seemed to get quieter very quickly until the clapping was gone.

So, what happened? Well it's quite obvious that a person controlling a machine that fed applause through speakers made a mistake and turned a knob the wrong way, making the fake applause go up in volume instead of off. He quickly corrected his mistake by turning the volume down until it was off. The show was edited for the west coast airing, and those few seconds of increased applause were gone.
