| It looks like the new Napster is already in trouble. Napster 2.0,
which is run by Roxio and has little in common with the original
Napster, has already pushed
out their prez, and may be the first of many new music download
services to go out of business. Basically all they have going for
them is the contract they signed with Penn State (idiots) that forces
students to pay (through room and board costs) for a download service
that few of them would use otherwise. |

| I was shocked to find out one of my favorite songs of all time
is currently
number 1 on the UK charts. The song is Mad World, by the American
duo of Michael Andrews and Gary Jules, and its featured on the Donnie
Darko soundtrack. That's DONNIE
DARKO, the movie that came out over 2 years ago! Why did it
take the Brits this long to realize what a great song Mad World
is? By the way, before anyone points it out to me, I realize the
song was originally performed by Tears for Fears, but that version
wasn't nearly as good. |

| I just noticed something very disturbing on the internet
today, and it didn't involve any raunchy scenes of sexual perversion.
Billboard is well-known throughout the US and UK as the authority
on music charts. I went to their site in search of a particular
chart, and I found that most of their content is for members only.
That fact alone would not be very surprising, but their prices were.
$29.95 for a 72 hour viewing pass, with a limit of 50 articles/charts.
You can send your complaints to info@billboard.com . Tell them damox.com
sent you. In the meantime, does anyone know of any online music
chart/article archives? If not, perhaps someone out there will be
inspired to start one. Look at imdb.com as a good example of the
way it should be done (tons of information available for free, premium
services available for a reasonable price). |
