Gaza Militants Fire Rocket Into Israel

Militants for a Palestinian group operating from the Gaza Strip have announced they have fired a rocket with a chemical warhead into Israel. The press is still waiting for Israeli officials to confirm the attack. This follows Israel's show of force towards Palestinians and Syria in response to the capture of an Israeli soldier two nights ago. That soldier is believed to be held hostage at an unknown location, although it is likely that he has been moved out of Israel. So much for any chance of peace in the Middle East.

Marine From Fahrenheit 9/11 Film Dies In Iraq

Remember that Marine who was recruiting at a mall in the film "Fahrenheit 9/11"? His name was Raymond J. Plouhar, and he never knew that the film was going to be critical of the war and the Bush administration that he loved, he just wanted to fight in a war like the guys from "M.A.S.H." Well, he got the chance to fight for his administration, and a few days ago he also got the chance to die for that administration.

Even though any soldiers death is a shame, this will no doubt bolster the anti-war movement. After all, Plouhar was probably the most famous military recruiter in the country after his appearance in the movie, even though he was very unhappy about the way he was portrayed. When the most famous recruiter is cut down by the war, how will other recruiters convince more kids to enlist?

The End of Project for a New American Century and the Pax Americana

A lot of people don't realize it, but a small cabal of conservative thinkers, including popular columnist and commentator Bill Kristol, have been in charge of American policy since the end of the Clinton administration. They have pushed the military-industrial complex that Eisenhower once warned us about, and they are still pushing for more military today.

I'm not a supporter of 9/11 conspiracy theories, but if there are any Americans who are glad that tragic day happened, it's the PANC. The day marked the beginning of a new era for them, when they could make any move they wanted and get majority support from most Americans.

The fall of the PANC came slowly. The war in Iraq seemed like a good idea to most Americans at one time. That time has since passed. Even with the Zarqawi being taken down last week, we now realize that this war is not the solution to anything. We took down a tyrant, and it will be a miracle if he's not replaced with an even more evil tyrant.

Nobody really wants this war anymore, nor remembers exactly what our purpose there is in the first place. Bill Kristol still gets to be on TV, but his opinion is no longer respected by anyone important, which is the way it should have been in the first place.

DeLay Admits to Being a Scumbag Loser in Farewell Address

In a speech orchestrated by the GOP to be the moment a great man stepped down (ala Lou Gehrig), Tom DeLay gave his farewell speech to the House of Representatives. DeLay cited partisanship as one of his many "unique" qualities, along with "goon hiring" and "election rigging." As a good friend of President Bush, it's unclear if he'll move back home or just stay on a couch in the White House.
