Can Nintendo Wii Survive Against PS3 and XBox 360?
The console wars are about to heat up in a few months, and Nintendo could be in trouble. Despite an innovative motion sensor controller, their new system will lag behind the competition, particularly from Sony.
Both the PS3 and the Wii will be powered by an IBM chip, but the one in the Wii is hardly innovative. It's basically a consumer-level chip combined with a nice graphics chip. The PS3, on the other hand, is powered by a cell processor that is not currently widely available to those outside computer engineering labs in a research institute. That may mean little at first, but as the months pass and developers learn how to take advantage of the cell processor's power, look for the PS3 to blow away the competition.
